About a year ago, my wife and I embarked upon a road trip to San Francisco. Our trips are generally uneventful — I drive, she sleeps. However, while resting between naps, she decided to strike up a conversation. A novice to San Francisco, she began asking questions about the city — her innocent voice quizzically inquired, “Can we go to Candlestick Park?” I hesitated, wondering why she would want to visit — and I dreaded asking the follow-up question, but I couldn’t resist: “Why do you want to go there?” She replied, “Well, I want to walk around the park and see the animals.”

Ah marriage...and aren't road trips with a spouse just the greatest. I drove across most of the country once with Tim while we were dating and then back again after we got hitched. You learn a lot about a relationship when you're cramped in a car, sleeping at relatives houses, and eating crackers for days on end. Oh, and heads up - I'm certain that Ohio can kill any healthy relationship.
